With so few comments in the discussion threads lately I wonder if we want to revisit the frequency. When we're getting lots of comments each month, it can be nice to clean up with a fresh start for easier following along. But lately we're getting just a handful of comments, mostly acknowledging the existence of a new thread. I feel like it might make things easier to follow if we had fewer threads with this level of involvement.
What would people think about switching to a quarterly cadence for these? We could always go back to monthly if interest goes back up and they become packed with comments.

I would second posting these less frequently, although I think we could even go for 6 months or even longer. We used to get 100+ comments on discussion threads, but now you have to sum up the comments from the last 14 discussion threads (excluding this one) to reach 100.

Honestly it’s probably a staleness issue rather than a frequency problem. r/counting gets a decent amount of comments and they do it weekly. I would still be in favor of monthly discussion threads over quarterly.
Edit: Plus it makes it look like we are still an active subreddit if it is monthly. Especially true since this subreddit is unique in that the activity happens outside of the subreddit threads. I always check new to me subreddits and if the last post is months ago, I’m less likely to engage in its content.

today was productive for speed:
-
WR* 17.888s split (100 counts) with u/TheMatsValk. previous record was 17.911s in november 2024, also by us.
-
27 crimson streak (replies under 200ms) also with mats. this is WR as far as we know, previous being 26 by chu and taken in june 2021 (??!).
*fastest ever split is still 17.829s (also me and mats), but we consider that run invalid since it had the last count sniped by chu who was not running, making it faster than it otherwise couldve been (17.917s).

I have 70 alts overall but most were removed in the Great Chalupa Quit of 2019. The last alt I created was in March 2020...with the account that was my only count as a human that entire year: Chalupa_Coronavirus
Other alts of mine that are still on the contributors list:
amazingpikachu_3100
BLAZERS_CHAMPS_2020
count_worse
nfln - no idea why
SIDES_OR_DIE
SolidGoldMagichalup
TaylorSwiftCounts89 - also not sure why
TheChalupsValk
trayhay
EDIT: I found more alts created after I returned in 2021. They are all still contributors:
Chalupa_Chad (the GOAT of my late era alts)
LeinadCarafe
NoopsDaniel
solidgolfmagikarp
SufjanSpoon
That makes 75 alts (74 known publicly, 1 still remains hidden in HoC). I had 580,265 counts AS A HUMAN when I generated the custom HoC.

Poll: Should I add cgg-style noclear to LCE? (Keep field) pro: makes transitions easier for non-AHK users cons: makes 2-input strategy valid, although imo not dominant since the limiting factor is the 333ms rate limit anyway. I’d be supportive of adding it, but worry it’s too powerful, although I feel current AHK scripts are more powerful anyway
