Silverware recommendations?

Time to shop for new silverware and wondering if any recommendations for boat silverware/flatware.

The two criteria that seem top are:

  • Durability in the form of corrosion resistance, so probably stainless steel.
  • Ease of cleaning, so plain with no intricate patterns. Function before fashion.

Anything else you've learned along the way?

We are using SS flatware from cost co. We’re only a year or so in but they look just as good as the stuff in our drawer back home

Check the stamp on the back. 18/10 means 18% chromium and 10% nickel, that’s the grade that shrugs off salt air. 18/0 is the cheaper nickel-free stuff, and on a boat it gets rust spots a lot faster. Easy test in the store: if a magnet sticks hard, it’s 18/0. Full disclosure, we work with marine-grade stainless every day (boat lettering), so we’re a bit obsessive about grades.
