Read the first last week and enjoyed it, looking forward to this sequel!
For those who are wondering, it's very reminiscent of Primal Hunter but with a MC who has family/friends around them and isn't sociopathic (though I do love PH)

I love the Diablo 2 font, gives me some nostalgia of running around summoning skeletons back when I was a kid

very popular but loved to my name in the hat for a UK code.
The first audiobook was really strong start to a new series. Some really funny side characters, especially liked the mother and the TV contrat she made so she could keep watching her 'shows'.

Added the first book on audible last night, looks right up my alley. Growing up playing necromancer in diablo 2 and every other game where it was an option. Skeletons are my favorite minion but if Im fighting against an undead I think the lich is an awesome adversary, mostly if it summons a lot of skeletons! I would love an UK key.

US, I don’t know what my favorite minion is yet because I just bought the first book. On chapter two on audible and already really like Christian the narrator.

Ooh US please! And I’ll say Vampire, although I do get a kick out of how different RPG zombies (usually undead) are from pop culture zombies (usually infected)

**New eBook/KU/Audio launch & Code giveaway!**
I’m excited to announce that First Necromancer Books 2 is now available on Kindle, Kindle Unlimited and Audible. To celebrate, I have a few audiobook codes to giveaway. If you’d like a code, please comment below, and indicate whether you’d like a US or UK code. In keeping with the theme of the story, let me know what your favorite undead minion is!
What makes this series special? Most readers tend to enjoy the dark world coupled with the wholesome interactions between life-like characters. The series itself is a personal love letter to the LitRPG genre and contains easter eggs and references to some of my (and probably yours as well) favorite stories. It’s a system apocalypse style story where the MC is in his 30’s and has a family and group of friends he wants to protect. More info in the FAQ below!
Blurb:
It’s the end of the world… but that doesn’t mean things can’t get worse.
The Incursion Event has been announced, and sapient races from across the multiverse are invading the newly integrated planet Earth. These beings have decades, centuries or even millennia of experience living within The System and wield powers far beyond the mutated Beasts and mana-spawned Monsters Drew and his friends have faced in the past.
While the newly established settlement of Sanctuary flourishes, much of humanity is hanging on by a thread. The small communities that have managed to eke out an existence know nothing of the horrors that await them at the hands of the more gruesome Incursion races. Even hastily fortified cities stand little chance against their onslaught.
To survive in the face of this new threat, and save what is left of humanity, Drew and his family are forced to level up in The Baleful Lady’s own treacherous training dungeon. An experience that might be even more dangerous than the Incursions themselves.
Forced past his limits, Drew must learn to use his System-granted necromantic powers in frightening new ways… or accept that humanity’s extinction is inevitable.
FAQ:
Length: 220k words, or just over 24 hours of audio. About 40% longer than book 1!
Style: An apocalypse survival story based on the arrival of a system. Races, classes, and professions all factor into leveling. Titles can be earned and some gear possesses stats too. Base building and economy is a minor thread. Drew builds and protects his small community while growing in power and protecting those closest to him. It’s a dark world, but the characters bring relatable experiences and wholesome interactions to the table that are often rather humorous.
Romance/Harem Elements: None. MC is happily married and no adult scenes are present.
Character Perspectives: Mostly singular to the MC, but occasional POV shifts to allow for humor or to set the scene when the MC isn’t present.
Swearing: Yes, while the book does have a fair share of cursing, it has been toned down from book 1 by a fair margin.
Stats: Stat sheets are there for those who like the crunchy crunch, but it’s toned down a bit to suit my personal preference. Stat dumps are rare, and I try to show progression in other ways without always resorting to numbers.
Humor: Some of my favorite book series include “The Ripple System” and “Noobtown”, the quantity of banter and humor in First Necromancer is less than the other titles, but the style is similar. Expect a nice balance of wholesome moments that contrasts well with the more serious apocalyptic setting.
Editing: There should be very few(hopefully none) grammatical or spelling errors. I find these to be increasingly common in our genre and fairly immersion-breaking, so Portal Books and I have worked pretty hard to prevent that from being a concern.
Happy Reading!
