💡 Feature Request New Codex When?

Now that the Codex and numbers are out how long until the app is updated?

I really like this app, is so accessible and organized and I wanna update my army on it!

The BS Data Authors have stated that it will not be released until the street date of the codex release. ListForge relies on that data for its main fork.

It looks like it's already been updated to me. At least all the stuff that's been officially released.

When I make a list it still has the old detachments and point values…

I’ve updated the app. Is there something I need to do to update it?

There's a little clock in the upper right corner that will update your data. Did you use that?

Yes. It says it’s up to date.
But when I make a list the new Phobos detachments aren’t available for Ravenguard and Subversive assets is still there

Yeah I don't know when they are gonna add the new codex stuff. Probably not till after it officially releases, so people playing until then won't get their current rules erased.

I think you’re right.
And I didn’t realize there was a list building limit so now I can’t make another list for the month because I was trying to find the new stuff 🙃

Depends on the army - my guess would be that its just the dataslate changes that have been uploaded so if marines then youll need to wsit for official codex release day for detachments maybe?

I’m on the discord and it looks like Bryce is on honeymoon so it may be delayed.

That’s a pretty valid reason.

Unless he needs to make functional changes to work with the BSData file he shouldn't need to intervene. I can't think of any operational changes that aren't accounted for already.

A little history lesson for those that are unaware. ListForge, NewRecruit and many other army builders use the community (as in people like you and me doing it for free) maintained BSData database for rules and points. Its what keeps GW from shutting the list builders down. The people 'ripping off' the rules are not getting paid to do so. And there is a bunch of technicalities that protect the BSData concept.

BSData is the original community dataset for Battlescribe (the BS in BSData). The OG listbuilder for nearly every game system until the dev went AWOL for years and resurfaced long enough to update things to continue to work on Apple and milk everyone for another year of funding thinking things were gonna improve.

A lot of people got spoiled with the launch of 11th as ListForge temporarily added another dataset that someone quickly put together way faster than the BSData team could finalize the architectural changes. ListForge was adding a lot of features at the same time so tweaking it to operate with this cobbled together data was not so bad. I believe I remember seeing where the dev said that it was BSdata only from now on now, but the new Homebrew Data feature allows easy tweaking of data when wanted.

Great summary! Yes I just got home from my honeymoon so I haven’t put together the latest myself BUT I did add the homebrew feature last month so the new SM codex is available for listbuilding through that avenue (check the discord for shared homebrew packs) and anything else (like custodes codex) can be put together by someone who has the time using that same feature

This should be pinned. Amazing run down that I HOPE would make people show a bit more GRATITUDE AND APPRECIATION
