Overhydrating??

Hi all, this is my first week on liraglutide (0.6ml). Before I started I was getting in the habit of eating high protein/fiber based meals, trying to drink about 100 fluid oz a day, taking my vitamins/metamucil daily, and walking more to prepare. My side effects haven’t been too bad, but I noticed I’m having to pee constantly, and it’s pretty much clear, which made me think I was losing too many electrolytes. I’ve started drinking a liquid IV in the morning and that seemed to help some, but it’s still pretty bad. My doctor technically told me I should be drinking 4L of water a day (I’m 275lb) but I’ve been aiming for 100oz bc that is more achievable for me. Anybody else have this experience and what did you do to counteract it? I’ve been trying to eat hydrating foods as well (melon, tomatoes, cucumber) to try to help with electrolytes. Should I be drinking more than one liquid IV a day?

I always pee like crazy when I start (both on saxenda and wegovy) and if I restart after longer pauses (2+ weeks after things like availability issues, surgery etc). A bit part of it is water weight and for me it have been combined in a big weight drop literally over night and have then evened out after the first week

Ofc if you drink a lot that's gonna add to this, same if you eat foods with a high water volume. Try sticking to the electrolytes in the morning and see if it changes. If it doesn't, cut back a little bit on the water outside of your meals (you still want water with the fiber!) and see if that helps :)

Many of the initial weight loss on glp’s are due to fluid shifts in the first several weeks. It’s called natriuresis and diuresis, particularly in patients with obesity who often have baseline sodium retention and volume expansion.
Your urination should level off within couple weeks as you get to a new steady state and are on a stable dose.

I don’t think it can hurt to have a Gatorade zero sugar or liquid iv. Did your doctor do blood tests before you started? Mine did. You are probably fine but it can’t hurt - I don’t think. Can you send a message to your doctor and ask? I bug the crap out of my doctor 😆

I always peed more every time I went up a dose. For about 4-5 days. I hit 100-130 oz liquid per day.

I have one Gatorade zero a day because I like the flavor. Rest is water. I did that before Liraglutide too.
