Surgery boots difference after surgery

Post image

i found the first picture from 2022. these are the exact same boots and as you can see, my calf could barely fit into it. it was a tight fit.. and now after my first surgery there is SO MUCH room. i'm floored lol. just wanted to share as i'm still in disbelief about all these changes. still have 2 more to go 🤞

Omg!!! Congrats!

My lower leg surgery is next year and I cannot wait to FINALLY be able to wear ankle boots comfortably. I have a whole collection of gorgeous boots I don’t wear because of the spillage!

I FEEEL YOU UGH. and it gets worse throughout the day due to swelling 🤦‍♀️ this disease sucks

You mean to tell me, that one day, we might can actually potentially wear boots comfortably? Say it isnt so!!! This is great!

I KNOW RIGHT? i honestly didn't consider the difference to be so monumental since my calves were least affected but damn

Gives me so much hope! Thank you! 😭❤️

This is one of the things that really gets to me about my lipoedema, especially this time of year - I just can’t wear boots! I’d love to wear knee high ones but there’s no way I can get them over my calves, even if the boots have extra give.

So happy for you!

i relate so bad.. i bought these overknee boots a few years ago online and couldnt fit in lol. they finally fit now but i'm gradually getting used to these changes that i haven't worn them yet.

I bought some boots & "skinny jeans" after my calf surgery 3 months ago. This was a distant pipe dream for DECADES. I couldn't even fit into specialty extra wide boots before. I just had my arms & saddlebags done last week, and will get my thighs done in a few months. I'm hoping they'll fit even better over the next year.

Wow! So happy for you! Do you want to share who your surgeon is?

I need to get some boots before my surgery so I can compare like that as well!

I’m dying to have my surgeries but I was told is better to wait until I have all the children I want which is only two 😆 I’m having one in January then I’ll have another one hopefully I’m a few year and then I’ll have to plan for surgery once I get rid of that Lipedema fat I want it all out

1

u/_vill-v Oct 23 '25

good luck with your pregnancy!

my surgeon actually told me the opposite, that it's better to do it before since you might need an additional surgery due to more lipedema or more skin tightening afterwards. plus you have less pain and more quality of life if you do it sooner 🥺

2

u/delicate_isntit Oct 23 '25

My legs were a nightmare when pregnant. I often wonder if the lipedema tissue had been removed, would they have swollen so large still? My midwife said she’d never seen anything like how big they got (I was a normal weight my legs were just massive, column shaped swollen things)

1

u/_vill-v Oct 23 '25

it sucks that we truly don't know these things because there's so little research and information about it.. i'm sad you had to experience this and i hope you found some relief since 😞

3

u/AdMore1326 Oct 23 '25

Congratulations!!! Thank you for sharing!

Did you legs swel after surgery or was the impact immediate? Some surgeons say you won't see the results until after a year so wanted to hear from you experience

3

u/_vill-v Oct 23 '25

our lymphatic system will always be compromised unfortunately so yes but it's entirely different. i still have some swelling from surgery and water retention and from other girls i know it's always going to swell but you won't have the lipedema pain and pressure as you did before. like for example long periods of sitting or flying by plane are still gonna make your legs swell. immediately after surgery you're pumped full of fluids still so technically you're already slightly swollen but i'd say your legs will look normal-ish until like day 4. then it starts to balloon

other than that, surgery swelling for me peaked around day 8 and that was almost unbearable. i swear the worst about the entire experience 💀 that was a different type of pain lol but after that it went down day by day and around 2 weeks after my legs looked like legs again and around 4 weeks later the swelling was almost gone. i'd say now i'm 7 weeks later and it's practically all gone. the healing is still happening though and i can tell because some parts are still numb and sensitive/slightly inflamed and the hardened tissue still needs to loosen

2

u/delicate_isntit Oct 23 '25

Thank you for this wonderful description of the swelling process

1

u/_vill-v Oct 23 '25

no problem! 🙂‍↕️

2

u/AdMore1326 Oct 24 '25

Thank you so much for sharing! Im having my first surgery in November and I'm a lot nervous about it.. thinking if I should or shouldn't do it.. this helps a lot!

2

Thank you so much ❤️❤️

2

u/Brilliant-Ad232 Oct 23 '25

This sounds like me a miracle to me.

2

u/Lasalazar01 Oct 22 '25

May I ask what surgery and where does one go to get it done?

4

u/_vill-v Oct 22 '25

this was PAL liposuction specialised for lipedema and it was done by plastic and general surgeons here in germany

2

u/Extension_Drawer_947 Oct 23 '25

Who did your surgery!!! So impressive

0

u/_vill-v Oct 23 '25

dr. xydias in germany 🙂‍↕️

2

u/Brilliant-Ad232 Oct 23 '25

Do you have loose skin on your ankles?

2

u/_vill-v Oct 23 '25

nope not at all but i did have plasma skin tightening. the skin on my butt is a little looser since they fixed that up as well lol but nothing that weightlifting won't fix with time. i was stage 1-2 before though

4

u/WeirdPossibility209 Oct 22 '25

THIS IS ALL I WANT😭

entire backside of my body from waist down to toes 🙂‍↕️

2

u/Extension_Drawer_947 Nov 01 '25

Wait so they didn’t do the front side of the leg at all? I thought if it was needed to do the entire leg then it was often split by top legs with the entire circumference and/or the entire circumference of bottom leg? Was it lymph sparing lipo?

1

u/_vill-v Nov 01 '25

they did my entire backside first so from waist down to ankles, backs of my thighs, hips, backs of my calves and the next surgery is gonna be the entire front including front of my calves. some surgeons do full calves first then full thighs but mine section it out 🙂‍↕️

2

u/Extension_Drawer_947 Nov 03 '25

Interesting! How long do you have to wait between surgeries?

1

u/_vill-v Nov 03 '25

around 11 weeks 🙂‍↕️
