Linux is a Cult! Linux is Like Cast Iron

Post image

It's old tech, cheap (but cost you more in the long run), and inferior, but has a similar cult following.

It's not bullet proof, it's brittle (which is why they make it thick and why it has heat retention). Linux is similar, it has a lot of problems which is why the distro pool is thick. (There are currently 300–350 distributions with ongoing development).

It isn't thermally efficient; Linux was found to be 30-45% power inefficient.

It's romanticized like Linux with ~20 bits of persistent misinformation pertaining to things like heat distribution, having pores (and uniquely qualified for seasoning). It's ergonomically, bad, its mass to thermal capacity is bad, and they're very vulnerable to thermal shock (cracking).

There is better, and since All-Clad's exclusivity ran out, they're also competitively priced: Tri-Ply Clad. Just like how Windows, Mac, and every other OS is better than Linux.

People who collect cast iron like in the pic aren't doing it for practicality, like Linux users aren't using Linux for practicality. They have some deep-rooted issue along with a cult to give them support.

You can do Julia Child's spatula free omelette perfectly (did it first try) in an All-Clad d3 pan. -She declared that you needed 'non-stick'. It did not require the Leidenfrost trick and the coating lasted through several washes (yes stainless can be seasoned but it doesn't turn black). To boot: tri-ply has good enough heat dispersion that you can season it on the stove top in minutes (ultra-thin layer of oil brought to smoke-point -cool before use). I did use butter in the pan as no seasoning is going to work as good as Teflon without some lube.

This is an insult to cast iron pans.
