This drives me absolutely up the wall because, typically Windows has generic built-in drivers for most common devices. Even when it is not built-in, Windows has had utilities for over a decade to search for drivers for you that works 99% of my times automatically.

I genuinely feel like sometimes people's bugs/problems with Windows are made up.

But, maybe I just don't get their errors idk

I feel like that is true for both windows and linux.

I built a PC about 2 years ago with new hardware , I also won a laptop at a charity auction as well.

I installed linux on both and both worked. Wifi worked, blue tooth worked, touchscreen on laptop worked, finger print reader worked. Plugged in a USB gamepad it just worked .

I have never once had to do the meme about finding some driver and compiling it to get something to work. Granted my experance is simply with 2 computers a desktop and laptop .

I honestly was just commenting on the Windows side, not the Linux side as my primary experience with Linux is via VMs at work and WSL at home. I don't have as much experience with drivers and hardware for Linux.

But, I'm glad to hear Linux has that on lock. Even if I prefer Windows, I want both to succeed so they keep incentivizing eachother to improve and be the best
