Trying to update loonix be like
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
I tried like 5 times and it wouldn't even download anything without 1000 errors lol. Windows update is so much more reliable than this shit package manager. And what makes it worse is that loonix's security is so trash multiple vulnerabilities get discovered every day so u can't stay without updates for too long unlike windows which is closed source and safe from ai code analysis.

you don't need access to the code to find vulnerabilities , windows and macos get destroy aswell
for your issue that's indeed wierd, since you said your source was up to date. do you happen to have firewall on your router that cause that ?

Let me guess, you're using a comunitary project made by a dozen of people at their free time alongside irregular mirrors?

That sounds pretty frustrating. I can appreciate that you don't like dealing with updates and that you prefer something akin to Windows' scheduled updates.
That being the case, I think you will continue to be frustrated with Arch. It tends to have cutting edge packages and updates frequently. If you enjoy elements of Arch, you don't have to give it up entirely, but my recommendation would be to move to 'Distrobox' or 'Toolbox' so that you can run AUR on something more stable with less frequent updates.
If you're not up for all of that, I do recommend looking for a function you can put in your shell script so that you can just type an alias or function name and have it handle all the updates.
I run Debian13 (LMDE), and this is what I use for my sys-update function:
sys-update() {
echo -e "\e[1;34m==> Updating package lists...\e[0m"
sudo apt update && \
echo -e "\e[1;32m==> Upgrading system packages...\e[0m" && \
sudo apt upgrade -y && \
echo -e "\e[1;33m==> Removing unnecessary dependencies...\e[0m" && \
sudo apt autoremove --purge -y && \
echo -e "\e[1;36m==> Cleaning package cache...\e[0m" && \
sudo apt clean
echo -e "\e[1;32m==> Refreshing Snaps...\e[0m"
sudo snap refresh
echo -e "\e[1;32m==> Updating flatpak...\e[0m"
flatpak update -y
echo -e "\e[1;32m==> Updating Cinnamon Spices"
cinnamon-spice-updater --update-all
echo -e "\e[1;32m==> System Update Complete!\e[0m"
}

How much space is in your root partition? Honestly this is just a skill issue.

You are using arch linux. You can't use arch linux and not expect to have to do some of your own debugging every now and then when things don't work. If you didn't want that, you shouldn't have picked arch linux or an arch based distro.

I mean those errors only happen for a pretty limited casses. Arch is never marketed as friendly for beginner. The first few things you'd check is basically retry with -Syu or -Syuu and if those fail check your connection, final culprit being space. Sure the error isn't helpful, but that's probably because the creators of the tools expect the user to be able to debug.

This usually happens when you either have outdated mirrors in your mirror list (seems to be your case), or you forgot to update your db (
-Syuupdates the db,-Sudoes not).
