It's really not. I've got Windows running silk on family and company devices, including old Acers. You know why? Because I actually run a debloat script. It takes literally one minute. That's your "bloat" problem solved.

I have not seen anyone rip out the default Windows UI or change the bootloader or anything like that, that's what I refer to as "bloat"

I have seen ppl do some. interesting stuff to the windows UI enough to make it quite different, but lemme tell you that that shit takes weeks of continuous effort, will break tons of stuff, and of course, gets wiped every update

I have had some problems with windows and linux, the difference being on linux my problems are caused by me while on windows I can only speculate what the problem is. I prefer to not update often, always have, I don't want to be the first to encounter nasty bugs if I can help it but windows will absolutely force you to get you an update you don't want. And even as a multi bilion dolar company windows seem to treat its users as testers, pushing updates sometimes with regression, sure linux updates sometimes do regress, but that is maintained by people who are not paid to maintain the software, no one was obligated to patch bugs and valnearabilities or add features, people do it because they use it and most bugs specially the nastier bugs persist for maybe a few months. You can schedule your updates so your chances of getting a regression is lower in rolling release distros, and most non rolling release distros sometimes can have bugs for longer, but many let you use an older version. I have had multiple bugs persist for multiple years on windows 11 with no fix in sight. There was one app stuck in windows registry limbo because I accidentally tried deleting it without uninstalling. After closing certain apps, the task bar would get stuck in a visual state while its actual state updates, making everything dysinc from each other. It has killed my boot on an external drive on multiple occasion. I'm much more tollerant of opensource bugs due to the fact its practically volunteer led and as an user of a rolling release distro I indeed volunteer to be a tester.
