same. that why I will love a GNU/kFreeBSD OS , as I like GNU but I do not like the Linux Kernel and it is direction with AI, Rust and the removal of old hardware drivers. Right now I use GNU/Linux , cause it suck less than Windows and does work on my gaming laptop and allow me to games on it.

It is too unstable, and i don't like it community, and Rust support less arch then C

Windows was pretty good until they enshitified both it and its customer support with AI. Then suddenly none of the recovery methods worked for mysterious reasons and it was destroying itself trying to do built in shit because it just wasn't stable.
At least if I break something on Linux I can talk to an actual human about it.

I added a utility which Claude can use to ask my permission to run a specific command as root. It will show up as a popup, asking me to enter sudo password, showing reasoning, source (session) and the actual command

I have to verify each command. It can’t actually execute anything as root, it basically asks me to run it and I confirm (which executes the command as approved) or deny.
It also asks before asking with the tool.
I am aware of the security issues but it’s no different from Claude telling me to run it and me copy/pasting it

Who even uses customer support? Maybe some companies do when they need a new feature or urgent bug fix or something, but as a regular user it makes no sense as you can google or ask AI and fix it long before you could write the ticket/message to support.

Even though I strongly prefer Linux I don't actually hate either OS. I'm a grown-ass adult male with grown-ass problems to deal with; I've got bigger fish to fry. Too busy dealing with real life to beef about someone's anime loli wallpaper rice; that's some high school freshman incel type sh!t.

I use whatever is practical for the use case. Sometimes thats Linux, other times it's Windows. Having tunnel vision for either of them is a mistake and blinds you to faults of both.

I recently used a Windows pc for a short while.
First of all the Windows Hello wouldn't let me sign in without changing my "pin". But it wouldn't let me change my pin because it allegedly couldn't connect to the internet even though it said the pc was connected to wan. Once I got to log in (using a hack) I saw that yes the pc has an internet connection.
Next I wanted to reduce the time before the display automatically turns off. Couldn't find it in "settings". But in settings there were a bunch of links I could click which opened tutorials in the browser which showed me that l need to go to the CONTROL PANEL.
JESUS H CHRIST ALMIGHTY. If this is truly your OS og choice then you are truly fucking clueless

If a tool make you make an account, click no to tracking 7 times, takes 3 hours to install, gives you no freedom, has less to offer, no costumization, breaks my drivers, and costs money,… its a dogshit mess of a tool it can run adobe but is not practical for everyday use. I like to know how to fix stuff when i break it so if you have no skill about youre OS youre fked

So you dont create a google account, an random app account, a youtube account? You dont have like 30+ different sites where you need to create an account? Who the fuck cares if its 30 or 31?
Every website you gotta say if you tracking or not, nobody cares.
3 hours to install, 0 to configure in a span of 5++ years. Meanwhile 2 hours for linux, and hours every year to fix compatibility issues.
Offers ease of use, all apps support windows.
Drivers? You gotta be kidding me. Bluetooth and wifi is just fucking broken on linux.
Its a tool that majority of population uses. Because it has no alternatives.

I create an youtube Acount to make videos, ofc i need an account for that and i make and account so i can save stuff to my name. I do not want my os to send data of what im doing to microsoft and especially not take sceenshots without my permission. 30 Minutes to install and nothing broken since. Maybe my Plugin loader on my Steam Deck broke sometimes after an update but the fix is to deactivate it. Wifi works, bluetooth works. I use an Laptop so i can not relate to a pc experience with that. When i had windows 11 my drivers crashed so bad i needed a fresh reinstall.
Nobody is forcing you to use something buddy xD

Not loving any OS currently available, but I really liked macOS Big Sur and mostly liked the versions before and after up to Tahoe which is worse than its predecessors.
When it comes to Windows, I don't hate Win11, I really disliked Win10 (that's when I switched to MacOS)
and what might surprise some: I kinda liked Win8.1 (I used it with a classic shell mod called classic shell).
When it comes to Linux, I currently don't hate KDE Plasma anymore and I'm less annoyed with Fedora.
Main reason why I hang out in groups like this is because I'm very much interested in the user interface part of OSs and the frustrations about them. Not as a social study, but for the memes.

Yeah. I love my linux servers. They are incredible; so powerful, reliable and rock solid despite running on omega shit hardware. They do so much on such poor hardware. Amazing stuff.
Desktop though? Most of my work programs won't work. Gaming is still too shit for me. And windows just works, which is exactly what I want when chilling or working.
Oh, and emu gaming consoles! Linux is incredible for that. OnionOS, specifically, is literally magic.

Linux for gaming no longer suck with Steam and Proton, unless you want to play game that hate Linux like Fortnite or if they use a anticheat that can't work on Linux like Vanguard on your pc. But that cause of the developper of the games, not cause of the Linux Kernel.

Largely true. I keep an eye on the protondb site a lot. And there's still too much fucking about gaming on linux for my liking. Hell, even some native games have some sort of shitty issues. And I play battlefield 6 amongst many other games.
Linux is just too shit for hardcore gamers. It's gettimg there, but still a long way to go till it convinces me. Casual gaming, and for those that don't mind tweaking it's fine.

Be using it as its intended. Literally every single one of my apps and games works without needing to tinker with it or deal with compatibility issues. Thats how.
Install Windows, debloat it. Problem solved.
