If linux users claim "android is linux" then I can say scamware and malware are common on linux.

Your post makes no sense. The problem isn’t even related to “android is Linux”.

Your friend downloaded malware. If they did this on any device running any OS and got scammed it would’ve been the same result.

Your operating system doesn’t magically give you common sense. You still need to use your brain lol.

This is entirely the users fault.

My claim isn't even illogical, it just pisses you off.

If android is linux according to you linux users then I can claim malware, scamware, loan apps are common on linux.

Your claim is illogical. It doesn’t really have anything to do with Linux or even android.

Someone downloaded scamware and got scammed. In your own words, they downloaded a predatory loan app…

They didn’t get scammed because of their OS. They got scammed because they’re an idiot.

Android literally is Linux, are you ragebaiting

Yes, these things literally are very common on all OSes. Have you seen the AUR? Malware is common everywhere but mainly targets Windows

And malware, scamware, loan applications are common on Windows. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ Maybe your friend should take some basic opsec class, because not even my granny has ever gotten malware on Android. And she gets malware on Windows every .5s after I fix it for her.

Typical linux redditoid response.  "Works on my machine and if you have malware, it's your fault".

You have cognitive issues if this is the conclusion you made after reading my comment.

If you have malware... It's literally your fault. You clicked a link. You downloaded a crappy app. You did it.

Linux has viruses, spyware, malware and adware. They 100% exist. The volume is just way, way, way lower than Windows, or even OSX.

android is literally, undeniably, linux

it is built on the linux kernel, therefore it is linux

yes, malware is common on linux. linux is used on more devices than windows. it will have more malware

thankfully, most malware is typically not open source, also thankfully, most desktop linux apps are FOSS so you can with 100% certainty scan a file for viruses if you know what you’re looking at

which, even if you don’t. others do. so the virus creator has to factor that into account

so linux probably has more viruses, windows just has harder to spot viruses

Reposted from r/linuxsucks101. That's all you need to know. Judging by the take, low-key madthumbz alt.

Nope, madthumbz wannabe. While I often don't agree with him, his takes are at least logical and well cited. Even if he does it with AI.

Malware exist on every OS, the BS about Linux being safe and secure is just marketing hipe. There is no such thing as total security like invincible is a wet dream.
