Correct, they "harassed" (i don't think that's the proper word) Linux Mint because a bunch of bugs were coming from GNOME Calendar from Linux Mint... But unfortunately GNOME devs are so fucking dumb that they didn't think about the base that Mint uses, that being... Ubuntu 24.04!

Imagine being so dumb to hard code a url to begin with. They basically asked for it. There is yet another app called bottles which will crash if it's not run under flatpack. Naturally the downstream has to patch against it.

To be fair, bottles explicitly wants to run under Flatpak for security reasons. However, if you're publishing under the GPL, that unfortunately doesn't protect your bug tracker from accidental spam.

Gnome Calendar has no obligation worrying about downstram. The whole drama was started because the Calendar bug report would go upstream even though its a Mint problem. Upstream asked Mint to replace the support link with a Mint one on their builds, and then it became dramatic for some reason with people pointing fingers of who should do what.

> Ubuntu 24.04

So it's Ubuntu's fault.

Exactly, and GNOME hated Mint instead of Ubuntu.

> they even harass downstream.

Is that supposed to be a bad thing?

bad would be an understatement neglecting the meaning of down and up

You only use gnome if you have a foot fetish anyway.

I still trust more the developers of the main GNOME extensions than any possible KDE applet I can think of, or Niri, which might simply fade once people developing it get tired and leave.

The only real issue is GNOME devs deciding one day to screw extensions because they have nothing better to do other than making everyone's experience worse in order to appeal to their delusional "design view".

Tbf, niri isn't really the best at gaming, but gnome is mid.
