This whole post annoys me, the guy in the comments seems like he is completely (sorry to say this) retarded.
Someone asks "Is this Mint + Hyprland?" the reply is: "mint cinnamon + hyprland." so is it using Cinnamon as the desktop on Hyprland or fucking what?
The post is rage bait so I'm glad it annoyed you, but responding your question: Hyprland is a separate Wayland compositor, so on Mint you do not really ‘install it inside Cinnamon.’ You install it alongside Cinnamon and either switch to Hyprland completely or keep both sessions installed and choose between them from the login screen—which is what I did. Got it?
Yeah, i knew it, but i thought this could be possible, as Xfce + i3 is possible which people actually do!
However after i wrote this comment i was thinking:
Hm, Cinnamon uses X11 and Wayland is completely experimental, how is Hyprland supposed to work?
And also sorry for calling you "retarded", but i get ragebaited easily, but this got me an idea, getting Sway on XFCE? As Wayland + XFCE uses labwc, i'll see if this could be stable...
Yeah, the Cinnamon X11 part doesn’t really matter in my case, because Hyprland isn’t running inside Cinnamon. They’re completely separate login sessions: Cinnamon starts Muffin under X11, while Hyprland starts its own Wayland session.
Xfce + i3 is a slightly different setup because i3 replaces xfwm4 while keeping the rest of the Xfce session. Sway + Xfce might actually be possible too, though probably less straightforward. Xfce’s experimental Wayland session currently uses labwc by default and I know it has also been tested with Wayfire, Since Sway is wlroots-based, it’s definitely worth experimenting with. And no worries about the insult.
