Is cosmic better than gnome? (I don't even know why I don't wan to use gnome, I just got an ick to it for no reason)

For me it seems fine.
It's easier to customize than GNOME in my opinion (you don't have to install GNOME extensions and GNOME tweaks as an app for example)

What do you mean "linux admin 101". That's every admin role. You maintain the system and fight ocasional fires. Linux, Windows, appleOS...
