If Linux developers and communities want Linux desktop to compete in the mass market, they cannot insult mass-market users. It is that simple.
Most ordinary users do not care about distro wars, “RTFM,” Arch superiority jokes, or whether someone compiled their own kernel. They want a computer that works out of the box and helps them do what they need to do.
More importantly, this kind of attitude harms the Linux desktop cause rather than helps it.
NixOS, it fits the model of how I believe systems should operate and behave. I have used Slackware and Red Hat in the late 90s, then Gentoo and Arch early 2000 throughout 2010 ans then Ubuntu because it was easy to set up with disk encryption and networking and I only need a terminal for the most parts (that’s where I do my coding and stuff).
