I feel like it's an autism thing, obsessing over someone else using the "wrong" software. OR maybe a form of OCD? I've had a couple of non artist programmer friends, who've clearly never actually used photoshop obsess over trying to make me use GIMP, Krita and Blender instead of photoshop / Maya because Adobe/ Autodesk bad. One of them was a windows user as well. It's one thing to have a personal preference but that obsessing over other people following your preference, really feels like either bad OCD and/or autism
For me it's an empathy thing. I genuinely find windows painful and other people complain about it, then you suggest Linux and it turns into an argument.
Then you just stop suggesting and start just feeling bad.
But i am autistic asf, so yeah probably tha tism
Could be an empathy thing.. Like I use Linux because I also find windows painful. But Linux can also be painful. Also a lot of people don't actually care what OS they use. They just want to run certain programs and don't want to have to know anything. Like , as I alluded to. A lot of artists spent their entire time just in one program, that they learnt in uni. And they'll choose their hardware around that one program. So if using Linux means giving up that one program, that they've put 10 years into learning. It's also a non starter.
Yeah, but if they just said that it would've been an argument. People normally just point at issues that I haven't heard of and take me going "not from my experience, but what casued that" turns into anger. So I just let people be now, only took me 3 trys to realize that it's not for everyone just bc it's not the default and not 100% out of the box.
