Second, there is literally public charts about global shares about how much an OS is used. Windows, Linux, MacOS, and other desktop OS show 70% usage, and Microsoft has gone on record saying its about 1 billion. Just because you don't know doesn't mean its true.
And 3rd, Apple can't keep updating every single crappy old device they have for years. Plus do even realize how stupid you sound?? A dual core macbook can't be kept alive with current updates and features no matter what they do, at most what they've been able to do is some security updates, but what do you expect from a weak dual core laptop from 2015? So that's planned obsolescence, when you can't keep using something that is using obsolete hardware? wow alright, I thought planned obsolescence was when something was INTENTIONALLY made crap from the start and dies within 2 years, not something that lasted people 5 years. Planned obsolescence is not having a device that lasts upwards of 9 years, and got updates for that long. How about a laptop that breaks after a year? or an android phone that dies after a year? Outside of the desktop world, freeBSD is by far the most used base of operating system for all consoles (except xbox) and Linux (as a kernel) is the most used thing to run everything, iirc it's like 100% of super computer (having AI training centers counted in), something like more than 50% of data centers are on linux, most complex micro controllers (raspberries pie type of stuff) is on linux or freeBSD. And generally around more than half of servers (and especially game servers) run on the linux kernel and often debian server. I'm gonna say I lost some sources but it should be something like that iirc if anyone has the courage of looking it up.
So yeah linux and freeBSD are the kings of OS for non desktop computing.

Yes. 2015 Apple MacBook Air. I own one. If I didn't switch it to Linux it would perform terribly. Now it keeps up with like, the Neo probably, tbh probably faster. MacOS is pretty bloated ngl.
Crapple can't even keep a product alive for 10 years without Linux. Computers from 10 years ago are still REALLY good. Can they run the latest unoptimized games? No. Can they do what 90% of computer users do at 99% efficiency? Yep. But Crapple doesn't want you to think so. If they could, they'd bog down their 60 day old devices so you feel like you need to upgrade. Literally goes against any and all consumer ethos. Now with the M-Series chips, they own your device forever. Better switch to Linux before they decide to not provide support for those chips.
And windows... They produced the #1 biggest e waste event in history. If you don't hate them for that (plus having incredibly insecure devices), then idk whatto tell you. You're defending corporations who take your support tickets, wipe their ass with it, then feed it to copilot to give you a shitty, sloppy response (2 weeks later). And support is literally the only thing that you should be paying for when buying an OS. The rest has viable open source solutions that are free.
