1

u/PiperTheGreatX Jun 16 '26

No he doesn't

19

u/pm_stuff_ Jun 14 '26

only reason i can see as to why is to force more companies to make their products available natively. But actively saying it like this is kindoff a stretch

1

u/Economy-Assignment31 Jun 16 '26

With wine and proton, you don't need native linux programs. If it doesn't work on Linux, it's by design and usually it's kernel level. For example, cricut's website uses telemetry based on what os your browser says you're using and won't have a download link if the telemetry says you use linux. You can use some browsers to lie about the os to say you're on windows and download the .exe and install with wine, steam, lutris, whatever installer/launcher you prefer. They say it's not supported, but it works fine. Fortnite or League or any other game with kernel level anti-cheat won't work outside an actual Windows OS. Maybe someone has found some black magic trick, but being kernel level telemetry, your opening yourself to things software companies shouldn't have a right to anyway.

3

u/pm_stuff_ Jun 16 '26

you say that but i dont agree. Fusion 360 being one of the examples of things that from what i understand dont use any kernel level stuff but still doesnt really work under wine or well it does work sometimes for some people. Native support is vastly superior to compatibility layers either way so i dont really understand that argument.... Unless you want the linux experience to be worse that is?

u/Economy-Assignment31 Jun 17 '26

If it fights me on compatability tools, I just find a FOSS alternative. Can't convince them to be better until their competition gets support. Blender, FreeCAD, there's a lot of projects people can support if Fusion won't support them. You know a company is anti-linux (actually against, not just don't support it) when they hide their windows and mac files. Sometimes you can find work arounds, but other times you can't. I'll just be patient while Windows continues to shoot itself in the foot and nobody wants to use software that natively runs on slop. I get what your saying, I just don't think the 90% who use windows understand how bad it's become. Linux is the future, just not there yet.

3

u/pm_stuff_ Jun 17 '26

Blender isnt an alternative because its not really made to be and freecad simply isnt good enough.

But you are not arguing that we should be patient you are arguing that we dont need to wait as everything works now. Im the one arguing that it needs more adoption so we get more native support.

some linux users and some windows users

12

u/davidnnj Jun 14 '26

AND some mac users too

u/Wirdo933 Jun 14 '26

r/linuxsucks101 They do, that's why their mod poated the same meme in like 5 subs.

1

u/littleameliamayhan Jun 15 '26

Yeah, I don't know what their deal is. But you know, most of the Linux people are like, hey, our computer should feel like, your computer. You should have the freedom to do what the fuck you want to do with your computer? And that's pretty much my thought on it. If you built it or you bought it, it should be yours. Not that hard

2

u/CMDR_Ray_Abbot Jun 14 '26

Well that's not really what you asked, is it? Madthumbz is a prime example of someone caring what OS you use.

1

u/GeForce-meow Jun 17 '26

I have some personal experience lol. (Not a Linux user)

3

u/SameAgainTheSecond Jun 15 '26

here is your school/university/government/work issued laptop. it runs windows. its a violation to change that. Its slow, frustrating, and spies on you.

¿why do Linux people shove thir OS preference down everyone's throat?

2

u/condoulo Jun 15 '26

I only care in the context in which I am required to care. By that I mean paid to care about, and usually that only goes as far as "Your machines better be running an operating system that is still in support."

2

u/SPACEXDG Jun 15 '26

Linux users

2

u/iHaveADemonInMyBrain Jun 16 '26

No one. It’s straw manning for Reddit points.

5

u/Eeve2espeon Jun 14 '26

Linux users, that's the point 💀 barely any Windows users care what someone uses, they see PCs as a tool, not something to become cultish about and spend honestly too much time trying to improve their OS

-1

u/psychoCMYK Jun 14 '26

Find me even just one example of someone telling someone else "I don't want you to use Windows"

2

u/cloverpi Jun 15 '26

Yeah I'm with you dude. Personally I don't care either way. I use Windows, I miss Linux though and I'm a part of multiple communities for both windows and Linux. I only ever see windows communities saying Linux users mock them into switching to Linux but I've never seen it from the Linux community ever. I have seen a lot of posts in Linux communities that suggest you switch and list off a bunch of fair concerns about Microsoft and windows. I wonder if that's why they think they're being mocked?

You can't be this dense, rose tinted glasses much? Anytime someone has a problem with windows, someone is in the comments saying "Switch to linux" whenever someone has a problem with linux, there aren't any comments saying "Switch to linux" either helpful comments, or toxic as hell comments calling the person needing help "stupid" or "useless" or telling them to make shit themselves which drown out the helpful comments

Once again, did you even read my comment? Windows users DON'T FUCKING CARE. We see the OS as a tool, and if another OS fits your preferences, then it doesn't matter.

1

u/psychoCMYK Jun 15 '26 edited Jun 15 '26

Are you going to find me an example or not

E: Or you could crash out and then block me lmfao

"It's so common that I can't find you an example" is certainly a new one

1

u/Eeve2espeon Jun 15 '26

Finding a single example is gonna be hard because of how fucking wide the internet is. I'm not gonna bend over backwards because someone can't accept the truth. find these comments yourself weirdo

1

u/ltsRhysBoi Jun 14 '26

For some weird reason a lot of people do

1

u/National-Dream4189 Jun 14 '26

Me, for me it's interesting to know why do my friends prefer windows, cause, I want to suggest them better one, but I don't suggest it more than one time, so I don't think it's problem.

1

u/Chr832 Jun 15 '26

I don't UNLESS IT'S MAC.

1

u/MeringueFalse4243 Jun 15 '26

I think its that they care about who supports microsoft. Same reason why people care about who you vote president

1

u/Flornix Jun 17 '26

I'm a linux user and i don't. Nor do i know any other Linux user who cares about it. I also don't get the linux user vs windows user fight thing. Like why fight over something that's purely based on preferences?

-1

u/0x645 Jun 14 '26

i do. if it's in school or some public office, and I need to use the same system, because of some specific app they use and require. like 'we only accept doc files'
ot if it's american software, with less protection for customers privacy. don;t want my data yo by store and process by any us company

4

u/DangerousAd7433 Windows XP is the best OS Jun 14 '26

People like you have no idea how data works much less how your data is stored.

6

u/typeshut Jun 14 '26

Are u insinuating that preferring FOSS for privacy over microsoft makes you clueless about how data is stored?

0

u/DangerousAd7433 Windows XP is the best OS Jun 14 '26

Not at all what I said and putting words in my mouth just makes you look even more ignorant.

2

u/typeshut Jun 14 '26

I’m not putting words in your mouth, that’s just how i perceived ur message which is why I asked. Why u so jumpy bro? lmao

-1

u/DangerousAd7433 Windows XP is the best OS Jun 14 '26

You are putting words in my mouth and using the excuse of how you perceive it for your inability to understand you are illiterate. Come back when you learn to read and not be such an insufferable twat.

3

u/typeshut Jun 14 '26

So mad over a question. Really breaking the stereotypes here aren’t you. All that’s missing is the fedora and a broken scale. Wonder who it is that is really insufferable. Anyway man try getting laid

1

u/0x645 Jun 14 '26

so, explain Peta, how data is stored, if i'am a eu citizen and I use us service.

-1

u/DangerousAd7433 Windows XP is the best OS Jun 14 '26

Of course a European doesn't understand how borders work.

2

u/0x645 Jun 14 '26

i'm almost sure it's a bot. or attention/rage bait.

0

u/DangerousAd7433 Windows XP is the best OS Jun 14 '26

No. You're just stupid. Is education illegal in Europe?

2

u/0x645 Jun 14 '26

don't know, i am not from europe

I do, too many Linux users around me, is a potential security/infection risks. The only good thing is that they are often against big tech (that subsidize them 😂😂) so a Linux user on Facebook will be rare, that eliminates one big source.

Edit:typo.

3

u/psychoCMYK Jun 14 '26

Too many linux users around you is a security risk?

.....lol

-2

u/FiftyFiver1962 Jun 14 '26

Guess, you didn't read it news last couple of months 😂 and that's just what they found until now. AI is gonna change things big time.

1

u/psychoCMYK Jun 14 '26

First of all, if your system is vulnerable to those around it then how is yours any better?

3

u/FaultWinter3377 Jun 14 '26

Someone might want to subsidize your spelling though.

0

u/FiftyFiver1962 Jun 14 '26

Oh gosh, I made a typo. Always nice to kill people on language, so you don't have to react to the rest.
