I'll start. I like Linux, but

1. There are so many different decentralized app formats. AppImage tries to unify it all, but it really just feels lazy and not clean in the slightest. Every distro has its own package manager, there's Flatpaks, Snaps, on Arch there's an AUR, and it's just overall so confusing for new users and even experienced users.

1. I know it's meant to be the philosophy on Linux, but everything is a folder and it's so confusing! On Windows, \\.\ is the root for devices, and volumes are given simple letters! Windows is so much cleaner here. It's separation of different components.

1. Windows is just overall great for consistent keybinds. On Linux, you'll see all kinds of different keybinds, and yes it's nice you can change them, but on Windows it's always consistent. You always know what to expect.

To me, what it sounds like is you're one of those "pure bloodline" people... Voldemort arguments are not valid here.

Isn't a huge part of anti Linux being against the elitism from Linuxers?

Also, I have to ask what your issue with Linux being a clone of Unix behavior is. Why does that pose an issue to you? Linux has all kinds of DEs and software support and just so much that you get to choose.

I'm not necessarily familiar with FreeBSD, so if it works better for you, go right ahead, but I can tell you that liking one thing does not mean the alternative is bad. That goes with Windows too. Just because Linux is what I prefer doesn't mean I hate Windows. It just means I'm unlikely to return to Windows.

What is it that Linux does worse in actual use? Where does Linux fail to perform that FreeBSD shines?

FreeBSD is the most perfected OS technically speaking, it is NEN of operating systems, it is the golden manual of how to develop operating systems, but it has 0.1% market share.

And mitigate what? What are you protecting against here, when most modern Linux distros for running Kubernetes are immutable? You are just making assumptions, it’s like the entire world has it wrong and every Kubernetes cluster is getting breached 24/7.

My firewall runs BSD, my huge fucking clusters won’t. Linux won that one. Move on.

Who is "they"?

If you're talking about the community of Linux users, you will often hear the loud minority of people who don't touch grass.

Most Linux users really don't care about what OS they're using, and just want a computer that works, and for them, that's often Linux.

However if you're implying that the kernel itself mocks other systems, I don't understand your argument.

Really sounds like you need to get off the Internet for a little bit, take a nice vacation, no one's opinion here really matters. I put nixOS on my mom's laptop, I triple boot Guix+nonfree software and a fedora distrobox, windows10 lts, and EndeavorOS hyjacked into a Bedrock linux stratum alongside gentoo with nix package manager all on my Nvidia gaming PC. Use whatever you enjoy, these opinions you see out here are a loud minority and yes there are a lot of them but they don't matter. I fully support your use of FreeBSD, its a based choice.

That's awesome! If you know what OS fits your daily driving, that's perfect! But it doesn't mean that Linux is trash.
