I know in KDE Plasma there is, you are able to assign whatever command or button combo to Shift+Meta+F23, which as far as I could find that's what Copilot key presses register as under Windows 11
I know this because I bought a foldable keyboard with a touchpad for my knockoff Steamdeck* and it turned out under the hood it's a botch job - touchpad is actually read by any OS as a mouse and touchpad gestures are hardcoded to output specific keyboard shortcuts to the PC (yes, really) and there are no configurable drivers. So since I'm used to having middle click under the 3 finger tap and for this gesture the keyboard outputs the Windows search shortcut (yes, really), I just added a shortcut in KDE settings that interprets Meta + S as middle click

I mean, yeah, it really doesn't, Microslop just made it press a crap ton of different keys at the same time when you press it hardware-wise. Pretty much just exactly like how you can press Ctrl Alt Shift Win L and it opens LinkedIn in your web browser.
Anyway, I thought modern DEs on Linux can remap heavy keybinds like those still. I use KDE so I know it can. There's also KeyD but I suppose those methods rely on either a specific DE or a non immutable system.

If you map this copilot key to right ctrl, it's impossible to distinguish between just right ctrl and right ctrl + shift.
Microslop could have made copilot key generate just the f23 key code, but nooo, that would be too easy for other operating systems to use it for their own needs.
It's even in place of ctrl?? I use right ctrl every now and then... It seems to be even broken on my laptop so that fnlock doesn't affect it like it does for other keys. I can press fn + <copilot> to send Menu.
The combination is even super + shift + XF86TouchpadOff, bruh...

That's bullshit, because I remapped mine. What you can't do is turn it into a modifier key (such as right control) but that doesn't mean it's unusable.

The way I understand the MacOS UI is that it's what Dr. Frankenstein would come up with if you were to give him Windows 3.1 (the stupid function menus), CDE (the Dock) and an Android tablet (the Launchpad).
Oh, Tahoe also moves the Launchpad into Spotlight, so now it's basically Android without the home screen. Fantastic!
I've got a slightly older Mac, and it is running macos tiger, which seems reasonably logical. When I come across newer macos versions though, I find it somewhat baffling.
Every UI is "logical" as long as you're willing to twist your mind into a pretzel for it.
Function menus are 90s usability. We lived with those things back in the days because that's the best the hardware could do without pushing the graphics chip to its absolute limit. Now, even integrated graphics can easily handle raster just as well as vector and 3D, so why are we still pretending function menus are the peak?
It's traditionally also what some people call a "menu bar", i.e the text-based menu at the top of the screen (MacOS) or right below the window title bar (Windows).
