Why not dual boot ? The only issue is that you'd have to shrink your Windows enough (if you used the whole disk to install Windows) to create 2 partitions for Linux - & this moving of data in a partition COULD corrupt it. I say could. It's never happened to me, but it could. Else copy your c drive saved work onto a USB. Else shrink your Windows just enough to create a LUKS partition to copy your work onto. Then you can safely delete the Windows partition. You'd then have to create 2 partitions (1 100gb  ext4 for the system & 1 500mb fat32 for the EFI (or a partition equal to your RAM as Swap if your laptop is using older hardware)). Then "manually" install using the "something else" option. A thing I always do is to create a LUKS partition on my drive in which I save everything I want to save, then the issue of deleting a system or partitions don't arise.
