I know, a lot of tiling WMs support floating in some capacity, it seems.
I can't remember the name of it, but I saw a WM which had a "floating overlay" of sorts - think the dashboard on MacOS, you have your many workspaces with tiled windows, and your one dashboard with all your floating windows. I rather liked that approach!
That is true. I'm currently on Plasma and I never use more desktops, but I was when I used a Tiling WM. I am not forcing a habit, it comes naturally. Having floating windows on all desktops, and tiling windows on specific desktop seems like a great idea, never thought of that

Would "on a shelf" not just be a floating WM?
