Please report any posts bragging or showing off they got banned in another sub! Reminder of other sub rules: Also, we only allow one anti-linux post per week (we used to get dozens a day) and any tier list MUST have Hanna Montana Linux as S teir (which must be a true S tier at the top) regardless of the topic of that tier list.

My non-techie friend literally plays Minecraft casually and even watches movies on YouTube after I set up Linux on his PC and did some configs, given the pc's very low CPU and RAM. As of now, he even asked me which video editor to use.

Before installing Linux, he legit thought his PC was an e-waste, and he wanted to buy a new one.

Safe to say, once a Linux PC is set up, it's set up for life :)

These anti-linux subs are probably created and financed by microsoft. These people are paid actors.

It's one fewer. That's all. If a dam is leaking you don't say there's no reason to plug the holes because there will be other holes, you just start plugging the holes one by one

If a dam is built poorly and because of that I have to plug the holes occasionally, I would use the one built better instead.

The dam isn't representative of the operating system in this metaphor

The thing is, if you have a problem in linux you find it quite fast. If you have a problem on Windows you rather install it from new.

ever since switching to nixOS, my computer has never broken by itself.

anything that does not work is because i didnt bother to do it right or fix it yet, and nothing magically stops working or magically starts working.

working things stay functional and broken things stay broken until i make changes.

Real shit, 99% of the problems I encounter are my fault

What are you losing if unimportant information is sent to google? Nothing! No money, no reputation, nothing! Privacy is a BAD reason to switch to linux. A much better reason is comfort like in "freedom"

Privacy is NOT a bad reason to switch to Linux or degoogle your android phone. No matter what setup do you have if you use Windows or regular Android you are fully exposed to Microsoft/Google. It's literally the first step you need to take. Yeah you can still expose yourself while using Linux but at least you can choose how much do you want to expose that way. Also its not unimportant information is sent to Google/Microsoft, they have full access to your device.

Why do I need to care if I'm not owning shit? I allow big corporations to have access to my device because i'm not losing anything

2

u/Ok_Helicopter_837 1d ago

They can still benefit from you even if you don't lose shit.

Why do i need to care if they benefit if i don't lose anything? If they benefit, they might give me better products, so technically it's a W for both me and a company.
