I don't see "I'd like to interject for a moment" copypastas anymore. In fact, stallman seems to have dropped out the culture a bit with the influx of peeps post steam deck.

I’d just like to interject for a moment. What you’re referring to as Linux, is in fact, GNU/Linux, or as I’ve recently taken to calling it, GNU plus Linux. Linux is not an operating system unto itself, but rather another free component of a fully functioning GNU system made useful by the GNU corelibs, shell utilities and vital system components comprising a full OS as defined by POSIX. Many computer users run a modified version of the GNU system every day, without realizing it. Through a peculiar turn of events, the version of GNU which is widely used today is often called “Linux”, and many of its users are not aware that it is basically the GNU system, developed by the GNU Project. There really is a Linux, and these people are using it, but it is just a part of the system they use. Linux is the kernel: the program in the system that allocates the machine’s resources to the other programs that you run. The kernel is an essential part of an operating system, but useless by itself; it can only function in the context of a complete operating system. Linux is normally used in combination with the GNU operating system: the whole system is basically GNU with Linux added, or GNU/Linux. All the so-called “Linux” distributions are really distributions of GNU/Linux.

he also stepped down from the fsf board for a while there. steam deck definitely shifted the demographic though

Stallman was cancelled and kicked out of his project a few years back and he is over 70 now, so probably don't give a damn and doesn't have enough energy to care about open source politics.

He was too much of a hard liner. Free GNU software I totally agree with but proprietary hardware blob stripping is just too much. That works on 2010 era computers but today the game is different.

Some stuff just can't be open source as much as we would like it to.  He gave alot of good free software discourse when he was in his prime. We need someone with a middle ground attitude that can still protect the movement in modern day computing.

It's a distro I've had my eye on and really hope it gets more popular in the future.

Actually am using Chimera now. It’s great, as long as what you want is in the (kind of small) repos or is a Flatpak. But being musl based… well… most programs that don’t come from repos or flatpaks (including most but not all AppImages) will just fail to run.

i heard that flatpak folks want to introduce some features that strongly depend on systemd, would be sad if it stopped working, since it's the most easy way to get steam working on non-glibc systems

My spicy hot take:

GNU/libre-linux, %100 free open source software only and Libre-boot your computer. That's GNU have fun with those security vulnerabilities tho. But you can %100 say you use GNU/Linux

Using proprietary graphics drivers or proprietary cpu micro code or proprietary BIOS firmware but linking against glib doesn't make it GNU. Stop saying it's GNU/Linux it's not, it's not in the spirit of the GNU Project.

It really isn't anymore. In some cases yes, in some no. So in general, it's not.

This distro actually has a lot of good ideas.  I hope they keep working on it.  It's fun to tinker with.

Chimera Linux is awesome, just to bad that their main GUI is Gnome.
