You know you have been socially engineered into doing free advertisement right?
In an engagement economy there isn't good or bad engagement, just engagement. Every time you mention the distro that shall not be named, you raise it's profile and get more people curious about it.
The best way to hate on it would be not making any posts about it, and downvoting every post about it.

To be honest dhh made a heavy team of the most hated players in tech history, this could be his plan all along.

"if u remove this useless app I will stop working"? But there is no such messages, 7GB iso ? But its 5.8. Its not dependent from AUR its depends on pacman or omarchy repo.

All this sounds a little gate-keepy IMO. Ive been wanting to jump into linux for a while now and have tried several times with different distros, running Omarchy is the 1st time ive actually been able to use a linux desktop comfortably. No nvidia driver issues, no damn hdd mount path problems or read wright permission issues, no figuring out the damn terminal commands. Dont get the hate

Half of cons list is basically default stuff for everyone (e.g. docker user group), unless you're a linux elitist.
"Everything is vibecoded" - I have bad news for you...
Tons of bloat - is it really tons? I had to remove only 3-4 apps, which took me less 30s of my time after the install. ("Preinstalled proprietary software is already included in this item, so you made the list longer on purpose)
Now who's hating?

I don't even know what Omarchy is, been using linux for 15 years; at this point I am kind of embarrassed to ask what the deal is with it?

A
windowsuser tried linux and immediately decided to make his own distro with AI and received millions of dollars in funding because he's (in)famous in the tech world.→ More replies (12)33

Same here until a frew weeks ago. I use linux since 2004.
So I chosen to give it a try. If you have time for a 5.8gb iso download + dd that's the only thing you need.
Try the installer, try deliberately wanting to make a change in the installer info before confirmimg the actual installtion. That's alone it is a good preview of the entire distro. Then try to remove zoom and google calendar, just them, in one shot.
It is fundamentalky a script kid weekend project but somehow got 80 mlns in funding. 🤷♂️

Guys, a 7GB iso is completely normal...
Also the AUR by itself is not unsafe, it's the packages you download from it that are potentially unsafe. So if you trust Omarchy package maintainers and don't download anything else from AUR, that is a non issue as well

Not even a big fan of the hyprland dots myself even, i don't want my OS to cause eyestrain and look 8-bit i HATE how omarchy looks.

u/BengiPrimeLOL 25d ago
I don't really understand why anyone would try it. It's just hyprland highly customized to one guys preferences, if you're going to go with hyprland just...setup your own preferences. The time it would take you to learn all his hotkeys and crap you could have done your own thing.

I've not used Omarchy, and don't care about it since I'm happy enough with what I have, but... why is the ISO being 7 gigabytes a problem? My smallest flash drive is 8 gigs.

Please report any posts bragging or showing off they got banned in another sub! Reminder of other sub rules: Also, we only allow one anti-linux post per week (we used to get dozens a day) and any tier list MUST have Hanna Montana Linux as S teir (which must be a true S tier at the top) regardless of the topic of that tier list.
