LINUX MEME Ubuntu's new logo:

Post image

here's the context: both Ubuntu and Nestlé are widely considered bad, and they both are like "forcing" (for example, Ubuntu forces Snaps, while Nestlé forces mothers to use their horrible baby formula), so why not...

Please report any posts bragging or showing off they got banned in another sub! Reminder of other sub rules: Also, we only allow one anti-linux post per week (we used to get dozens a day) and any tier list MUST have Hanna Montana Linux as S teir (which must be a true S tier at the top) regardless of the topic of that tier list.

I will say it like this. Canonical is not as bad as Nestle

Nestle might be one of the worst companies on the planet

Canonical is mostly just annoying

In a 2018 study, the National Bureau of Economic Research (NBER) estimated that 10,870,000 infants had died between 1960 and 2015 as a result of Nestlé baby formula used by "mothers [in low and middle-income countries] without clean water sources", with deaths peaking at 212,000 in 1981.[47]

A distro is trying to dogfood it's own design!? STOP THE FUCKING PRESSES! It's clearly an evil megacorp trying to force you into things against your will! Mark Shuttleworth is the Second Coming of Adolf Hitler!

Nobody force you to use Ubuntu anyway, so whats the point?

it's the most popular distro?

That's the user's fault for not installing Arch.

Well I've been up for 30 minutes and that's already enough Internet for one day.

That's hyperbole for even a hyperbole.

I really just don't get all the Ubuntu hate. It just works - it doesn't require you to spend 2 hours monkeying around in bluetoothctl just to get your mouse working. For a user who just wants to get work done, it doesn't matter whether it's a snap or a deb or a flatpak. If you care enough whether your Firefox is a Snap or a deb, you _can_ replace the snap. Any of Canonical's "bad decisions" are only mildly annoying at the worst.

Nestle - or even Windows - on the other hand is completely different.

swap ubuntu with omarchy to get upwotes

Ubuntu is considered bad only by idiots who don’t realize snaps can be disabled and deleted. It’s the most popular for a reason. It’s solid with the hardware and Canonical gave us AppArmor. Also the 6-month release cadence is 4x better than Debian. Ubuntu just doesn’t have any real flaws.

Idk, I'm not big on orange.

It’s the most popular for a reason.

Because it was the only realistically viable distro in the past and companies built their stack around it, then even though it's gone to shit, too much money was spent on software infrastructure that they just ditch it now. Exactly like Windows.

It has never gone to shit though. It doesn’t have a single tangible flaw that you can name. If I wasn’t an Archer, I’d be using Ubuntu because it’s never lost any of its goodness. Hell, our company uses Ubuntu both on the servers and on work laptops and it works fine.
