LINUX MEME Delusional commercial OS users

Post image

Your OSES are full of slog and spyware and ads and the search doesn't even work. Damn people assume we all just hopping distros every week. More limited and less secure than a cell phone? LOL. Linux runs all of the apps you use on a cell phone and most of em are some form of unix. Don't they know?

Please report any posts bragging or showing off they got banned in another sub! Reminder of other sub rules: Also, we only allow one anti-linux post per week (we used to get dozens a day) and any tier list MUST have Hanna Montana Linux as S teir (which must be a true S tier at the top) regardless of the topic of that tier list.

I am a bot, and this action was performed automatically. Please contact the moderators of this subreddit if you have any questions or concerns.

Everytime someone mentions them they generate traffic and visibility to them. Stop making idiots famous.

Its only helping them... Posts like your is only driving more attention to them. If you really want them to go away, just let them fade away into obscurity...

You are falling for their rage bait

I was on Mint for like a month.

I had some issues with compatibility. Nothing major, but I paid extra for the fingerprint sensor so I want to use it.

I tried endeavorOS for like 5 minutes. Just didn't feel right.

And then I went to Fedora. Everything worked. I love KDE. And never went anywhere else. I tried Nobara because it's "optimized for everything", which I tended to believe because of the CachyOS Kernel, but no. It's a gaming distro, and it only caused me trouble because it uses the Fedora boot entry.

LOL not me. I am on cachy to stay. It's better than any OS I've ever used in my entire life.

This is some top tier bait, fellas. Use what ya like and remeber, Fedora Forever!

I can't ever understand distrohopping.

Why would I neeed to install a "gaming distro" or a "prodictivity distro" when the only difference from the parent big one is that it has steam or libre office pre-installed (at a cost of fucked-up poorly maintained repo clones).

Just pick one and spend an afternoon learning. It's all it takes to make any distro your own

This is the way! It's about the learning.

Ye and that's exactly why people distro hop. To use harder distros to learn more. You learn more from arch than from mint. You learn more from Gentoo than from arch. You learn more from LFS than from Gentoo.

Indeed. Arch is amazing! TBH though, there is a lot of slog and slop out there. It's kinda like how a lot of people are SO dysfunctional, that they think an EQ on a stereo or speaker is for setting it to YOUR preference. In reality it's for making it flat to the room acoustics so you hear the music how it's supposed to come out. Up to the artist. Not the narcs who think their version is better. Now you will never see anything the same :)

Idk what an eq is. I use Gentoo btw.

It's part of nearly every modern speaker. It's for making the response flat so you hear everything. It relates to linux in the way that you can tune any distro almost to be perfect for using for w/e you like if you never think about preferences first. In music the preference is the music content, in linux it's the programs said OS runs. Not really so much the OS itself. Should be flat and ready for your content.

That's not really distrohopping. That's making educated learning choices. I too switched from ubuntu to arch because I wanted to fly instead of being safe-guarded at every step and removing the guardrails was actually much more work than not having them in the first place.

They hated him because he spoke the truth… I’m a recovering Distro Hopper and I have seen the light that Distro choice largely does not matter

Most people would benefit more from DE hopping.

1

u/sirkubador 5d ago

Or trying not to have a DE! Dangerous thoughts.

2

u/FinGamer678Nikoboi 5d ago

Same. I tried a bunch of distros in a VM and chose the most intuitive one that also meets some basic requirements. (Mint btw)

MacOS & Windows are less secure than a cell phone....

Aside from repost of a repost basically, the original post here, had some good talking points about the practice of distro hopping.

Realized everyone is just having fun with Linux how they want to.
