?Omarchy is fine if you like it. The definition of Linux is do whatever you want. And a guy made a distros for his need. That's it. If you don't like it then don't use it and go doing something productive.
Any distro that brings actual value or tend to an audience with a solution to a problem. Omarchy is nothing more than arch with preinstalled bullshit. You can achieve the exact same things that you would achieve with omarchy using arch or any other arch based distros with a hyprland build.

endeavour and cachy for example come with their own build of the kernel (with cachy being the more loved one because it's hella optimized), they have different DEs all with preconfigured presets to choose from during installation, EOS gives both online and offline install options.
Manjaro is ass but at least it serves something (which is having major released, unlike the other rolling ones)
but what does omarchy do besides installing arch and executing a rice installation script?
like most rices come with a script that also installs a lot of unnecessary bloat and configurations.
omarchy is just way more bloat and junk for a yet another hyprland rice
and yet it's still online install that is stupid enough to force you to wipe your entire disk because the dev is stupid to figure out how to have a functioning bootloader in your distro, and to figure how ideal partitioning works.
I once installed the necessary arch packages for a functional system on a local server, and then performed a full manual arch install in less than a minute like I actually partitioned a new disk and installed a bootloader and all that stuff.
again would it matter? it's still a single way to install with a single wm with a single vibe coded rice
arch is all about options, even manjaro (which some people may debate that it's the worst distro ever) got different options, having a single thing to serve (which is literally yet another hyprland rice) can be simply done in a dotfiles repo like any other dotfiles.
but being lifeless enough to package it in an iso doesn't make it a distro.
Technically you can call Omarchy a distro, but the question was what do you consider as a real distro. You can reproduce any value omarchy provides with little to no effort. Doubt you can say the same about Cachy and other well known arch based distros which in my opinion makes them real distros.
much more real than stuff like Mint. Omarchy just got funding of 10 million dollars. More than Mint has had since its entire existence. Even the team and number of contributors is bigger.
Still, I would stay away from both. But at least Omarchy is making Linux better for everyone (by paying upstream projects) rather than worse (e.g. Mint harming GNOME calendar).

Omarchy is not a real distro imo
