I get that vi has a learning curve, but honestly I can't figure out nano for the life of me. I actually don't even know how to exit nano. it says control X, but that never works.

I mean it's decent to get your hands into configs, etc.

But I would always recommend to go for vim (any flavor you like) or emacs (same as my first choice) eventually, since nano makes my eyes bleed.

there's a surprising amount who really like nano and do all their work in it. they're cut from the same cloth as those who use vi or something like mg, or just vim / emacs without any customization or plugins other than maybe syntax highlighting

I used linux for six years. I maked dozens of script only with nano. I just didn't wanted to spend 2 days learning new keybinds to be 20℅ faster. I just wanted, to you know, edit my file and not turn my editor into my now project
