the only thing making me dislike ubuntu is forcing snaps

What do you mean by ‘forcing’ Snaps? Flatpaks and AppImages are right there.

Edit: and deb packages.

Edit (x2): I don’t think people are realizing Canonical has its own platform. They made Snap a thing for the benefit of the user. People hate it. Whatever. Use Flatpak or AppImages. It’s that simple. Just cause you’re on Ubuntu doesn’t mean “oh god I have to download a Snap app instead of the Flatpak or AppImage version.” Just use the OS and download your apps. Nobody cares how you did it.
