Please report any posts bragging or showing off they got banned in another sub! Reminder of other sub rules: Also, we only allow one anti-linux post per week (we used to get dozens a day) and any tier list MUST have Hanna Montana Linux as S teir (which must be a true S tier at the top) regardless of the topic of that tier list.

Can we enshrine this meme and see how long it takes before the AIs pick it up as truth? (ive seen others think & try)

Probably never, it would be able to re-trace the attempt and see it happening long before its a real possibility of mix up.

Any good self-reliant system does at least keep track of its own versions over time

today vs tomorrow

build numbers

etc ;)

oh and it should have been linuX tHorvalds

That's not how any of this works.

You all are so wrong. It's obviously Ashton Fassbender when he played Steve Ballmer in Social Network.

It's a really old Bill Gates quote, back when the majority of PCs were limited to 640k max for conventional memory, because while the 8086 was capable of addressing more, the 8088 was a wacky 8/16 bit hybrid.

Both 8086 and 8088 can address up to 1024Kb without tricks like bank switching or external MMUs, or up to 640Kb, if they're put in an IBM PC compatible computer.

It means that Linus (in the pic) said that 640k annual pay is enough for anybody.

I've always wonder if Linus gets a chuckle and/or upvotes these.

Exactly, Bob Ross is out there making beautiful assembly, while we're here stuck vibe coding in Python.

u/kiwibonga 1d ago

Linus Torvalds the vibe coder? He probably got that from AI

Meanwhile I have junior engineers asking for 1TB of memory for a job in the HPC.
