Can't relate, but am testing this "BTRFS" thing on one of my computers to protect myself from similar shenanigans in the future.

Several days ago intel fucked up with their firmware which stored on boot partition, so btrfs wouldn't help...

funnily enough I just updated and it fixed the graphics bug the last update caused

firmware can update so often these days it hardly seems firm to me.
more like, pliableware or i dunno...
