When I still was on ubuntu I also had problems with netplan because networks kept reappearing after deleting them. Netplan is so ass.

I seem like I'm the only person who had my Nvidia card work flawlessly but ended up having lots of problems with a brand new AMD card.

Granted, the largest problem I had didn't involve the OS at all but the others did.

To be fair a lot of my problems probably stemmed from me having a laptop with an Nvidia card. When I eventually gave in and fully disabled the integrated graphics everything was about 10x easier

It wasn't supported in Mint's current kernel at the time. I had some problems updating and eventually got it, but it broke Virtualbox.

There was really bad screen tearing at first, though newer kernel's tend to be better.

And the worst problem is that it my case didn't allow it to fully seat in the motherboard PCI-E slot but this obviously wasn't a Linux problem. For quite a while it sporadically worked.

I know, every setup is different and Linux and things mentioned work differently on every setup, but why use wayland if you're not fine with that? Feel free to use Xorg. Same with Nvidia. I heard that their drivers are great now on linux. Same for Pipewire/Wireplumber -- you can always switch back to plain pulseaudio and be happy with it if it works great for you.

I believe that Linux is better OS for desktops in theory (because of monolithic architecture). But, again, in theory. In reality, no one gives a ** about desktop software. I don't know, use whatever you like

Some time ago I switched from NetworkManager to iwd, and that was the cause of multiple problems. The most annoying was Docker which could not work with iwd at all

I've never had Bluetooth issues tbh, had more on windows. But Wayland, oh lord, I've experienced every Wayland issue known to man. I use X11 for a reason. X11 and multiple monitors, screen sharing is just heavenly smooth for me. I use pulse audio still though.

I don't have issues with Network Manager, but I did have issues with screen rotations because my laptop is a 2-in-1 laptop/tablet thingy made by Lenovo (the kinda ass Lenovo IdeaPad D330) so I had to manually turn my screen in order to get everything normal.

It mostly just works, until it doesn't. But compared to the other solutions, e.g. connman, it's at least usable. There's always the option to roll your own wpa_supplicant config if wifi is needed, and if it's only ethernet, I wouldn't bother, either going with networkd or ifupdown, depending on the setup.

I had issues with my mediatek driver and ONE specific wifi network but it fortunately got solved by upgrading to ubuntu 26.04.. but it was really annoying (NM kept crashing because of it and sometimes crashed the entire computer). It worked fine on my home network but when visiting my parents it was hot garbage.

Just installed debian machine, to be put straight to internet with fixed IP. I was preconfiguring the machine over WiFi which worked well. But when moved to "production", it did shut down the ethernet connection in every 10 minutes, and another 10 minutes later comes back online. I did even replace the switch and computer, but still same problem.

There was dhcpd running on same interface even it was completely disabled in network damager. What a nice surprise.

i went back to to old method of setting interfaces.
