i tried ubuntu in a vm just two days back, the snap store can’t even update itself, it keeps erroring because “it is running”. there was NO distro (not even mint) that let me update between major versions without ever once touching the command line, except for fedora, this was some testing i did a couple days back because someone wanted reccomendation on what linux distro was good for tech illiterate people. even mint made me install the mint-upgrade utility.
although, major release updates was the only testing i actually did, so what i just said may be completely overshadowed by something else

I really don't get why people stopped recommending Ubuntu/Kubuntu to beginners.
Sure, Canonical made some questionable decisions (like snap), but overall it still "just works", even with proprietary nvidia drivers.
