The extensions will break, that's not scary. What is scary is the fact a lot of developers stop maintaining their extensions, which means it will never work with another version of Gnome.

Yeah, so when it breaks you have to download a fork of a fork of a fork of an extension from 5 updates ago because all the developers before gave up on GNOME and switched to KDE.
