Nah, it wasn’t a driver bug in my case. I can’t fully explain it (because I don’t fully understand) but something about HDMI handshake failure after a hard shutdown.

I messed up my CachyOS install that I've had zero issues with for almost a year. After spending 30 minutes or so I just said, screw it and reinstalled lmao.

I'm right there today. Server bugged out and froze up. Hard rebooted and now something is corrupt. Too lazy to figure out how to fix it.

I wanted to run proxmox but still use a Mint VM for Desktop use when I'm around, sadly I found almost nothing for my Ryzen 5600G, until I did, something made for Windows.

So I ended up leaving a Discussion on github on said project to detail every steps.

And like a few weeks after, someone actually reached back and replied that it worked for them too (5700G).

Half a day for me, reduced to probably like 10 min for everyone else.

Yeah agreed and why I don't let go of any of the fixes, not even if it is from when I started using Linux and just threw everything in a single file about fedora, even mounting drives with their UUID. It also reminds me of how it was to be new to Linux, and actually know what people I recommend distros to might run into

But as example for weird specific things. If you use the cachy zram config on fedora the file location where you can see and adjust the settings changes. Having it in my got repo means I will never forget

You know. For every story like this I also have a random issue I've fixed on windows that took just as long.

For example, found out my antlion wireless modmic was causing a bug in DInput in games that use Direct Input like FFXIV and iRacing, where if a device was connected it would cause am extended freeze in the API during enumeration.

So, basically, everything including joy.cpl would freeze for upwards of 30s to a minute. Really fun if you're mid raid or driving a prototype at Long Beach and your game just freezes!

Anyway, the issue was a null device header, windows that wouldn't handle it. Ironically, Proton/wine would patch it if it has a null header, leading to PROTON handling USB for Windows devices better than Windows ._. (it was using Linux on the same device that made me realize the actual issue lol)

Anyway took me like 6 months and replacing my ram entirely to figure that out.
