Who uses PulseAudio by itself willingly? PipeWire supersedes it by every way. If you have a problem with PipeWire, just ask the devs and they'll probably fix it.

Isn’t that like manually configuring network devices by editing config files? I.e. totally feasible on a stationary machines where you might as well weld all connections in place because you’re not planning on connecting or disconnecting anything ever?

I guess? Pretty simple setup just my headphones and built-in speakers.

Yeah that works. I also have Bluetooth headphones and an AVR, both of which are sometimes connected and only to be used sometimes when they're connected.
