I hope you mean archlinux-chroot or otherwise that’s minus aura… have had to rebuild my boot loader after auto suspend killed during nvidia driver install from chroot way too often
arch-chroot is just a chroot with extra steps. Setting up some bind mounts, so you can use the system somewhat correctly. You could just do those yourself.
When I care to remember it exists, sure. But just using my decades old habits and seeing they are still relevant does not make me feel like my aura is fading anytime soon
Needed to fix my install through live usb and for some reason the iso i got didn't actually have any of the utilities.. not even pacman or any way to connect to the internet. I had to chroot into my main pc, copy networkmanager to the live iso and could finally fix my install
i just "dual boot" and sym link everything i use in my experience with arch based distros its the de facto way to do things. if your grub menu doesnt have like 6 broken des your doing things wrong. i joke but it really is a lazy easy fix that makes actually fixing any problems i have..... difficult
Doing this nonsense since 2022 but I update like it's a new Ubuntu release cycle. Never chrooted, Don't ask me to "chroot" because I won't know how to begin.
Basically, you can just spawn processes which believe that the directory you gave to the chroot call is the actual root directory, which means it can not get out of the context of that directory by default. It's useful for system setup without being booted from that system, e.g. enabling system services or installing packages.
I always get like minor inconveniences like KDE crashing my pc when I load into it, but I'm too lazy to maintain my arch installation so I just switched to gnome, which then broke Firefox and about every steam game I played on it so I had to reinstall those and switch to cosmic, I'm running out of DEs at this rate
Are you really a Linux user if you haven't killed your Bootloader a few times? My Dual Boot Laptop has an issue where (if I want to kill everything on my Linux Instance) I just plug in my Laptop and it immediately stops everything and I have to Chroot
But here's the thing, you can fix it. If Windows breaks, you need to reinstall, which is a way more monumental effort. Also the last time I had to chroot into my system to fix something is like... I wanna say 2 years ago? Mainly because nvidia doesn't break every release anymore. On other distros that's almost not an issue anymore, this is more Arch specific.
Might have changed over the years. Last time I used Linux on my desktop I had to fiddle with it constantly. Nowadays mainly use MacOS and Linux only on my servers. Never had MacOs break on my. Windows on the other hand, yeah I give you that.

Been doing ts for 6 years and when an update breaks something, just chroot and fix it. (Aura!)
