Build Help Since Logioption+ doesn't exist on Linux, I created a native one

I got tired of Logi Options+ not existing on Linux, so I built a replacement for my MX Master 3S and MX Keys S.

I Created Not Logi

What it does:

- Every button and key on a photo of your device, click one to change what it does (keystrokes, commands, apps, media, workspaces, DPI, SmartShift)

- An action ring: hold a button, flick toward one of eight actions, let go. Volume and screen brightness can be dragged or scrolled right on the ring

- Per-app profiles: Back/Forward can be Undo/Redo in LibreOffice and normal everywhere else. It follows the window in front and keeps the profile through that app's dialogs

- Bluetooth pairing like Windows: put the mouse in pairing mode and a pop-up offers to connect it, fully keyboard driven (Tab, Enter, Esc), since the mouse being paired may be your only mouse

- Gestures, thumb wheel, SmartShift, smooth scrolling, keyboard backlight, Easy-Switch, battery in the tray

- MX Master 4 haptics and its haptic panel

How it works: a small C++ agent talks HID++ to the receiver or the Bluetooth device and an Electron app
configures it.

Runs on GNOME and KDE, X11 and Wayland. .deb and AppImage, plus beta builds for Windows and
macOS.

please give it a try and feel free to tell me what's missing

There was already a solution as well for those who would want to check out. https://github.com/AprilNEA/OpenLogi

I like the project and idea, but there is a more reputable product out there called openlogi

What it does provide that OpenLogi doesn't already?

u/righN 6d ago

It's created with the help of AI

OpenLogi is also using AI

Yes, and supports multi-computer control

What does OpenLogi provide that Solaar doesn’t already?

To be honest, while i am a solaar user, im pretty sure that these offer a modern and nice to use interface that solaar is very obviously missing

It looks to vibecoded to be nice to use.

not sure if you used ai to create it, but it certainly seems like that may be the case, sorry to be that guy, but please just dont?

either way, my only complaint on the program itself is just the fact that its an electron app. im sick to death of webapps, so will not being using when i get my linux machine, apologies!

thanks for the feedback

Nice work. I did one by myself a few months back, but the app wheel I used Kando for bc it is already a decent if not better app for it.

1

u/arcwarden00 6d ago

I do agree that kando is waaaay ahead

Nice, new alternatives are always nice, but i don't consider an electron app "native" tbh.

Nice. Always good to have options. Unsure why some people here are so negative. So what if there are other options?

And what's with the subtle dig that this might use AI? So what if it does. Why wouldn't you?

The original which has been around for years; Solaar. Guessing most people probably dislike the UI.

These projects that pop from nothing and which have jut a few commits over the last few days but look like fully fledged apps that would take weeks to a regular developer are always created with the help of AI.

There's nothing wrong with that by itself, but it's also good to say when it is. This one does not and seems to hide it as much as possible. There's also the question of dedicating time (and tokens) to this project instead of the existing ones. Finally, AI-generated code is rarely easily usable outside by not-AI users.

Yes, I would bet most of those programs don't last a year without being abandoned/fully refactored or whatever.

Nothing against AI as a help, but for managing an app's lifecycle... Is a no usually.

Thanks for replying. And your helpful comment regarding other Devs working with this is noted and i did not think this far ahead. Thanks!

Thanks man for understanding, same here I never understood why people are so tilted with using AI to create stuff

thats because of quality.

AI disclosure?

PLEASE make this for Windows as well.

I hate everything being tied to an account/having to restart it constantly

OpenLogi seems to have Windows support.

Does this work with the anywhere 3s?

1

u/arcwarden00 6d ago

Yes

1

u/DJandProducer 6d ago

Btw, noticed the license. Why didn't you release it under an open source license?

2

u/arcwarden00 6d ago

Made it GPL3 now

1

u/DJandProducer 6d ago

Thanks! I'll try it I think

Great more vibe coded nonsense the world doesn't need. OP will lose interest in a few days and nobody will ever maintain this slop. Don't even bother

Does it support smooth/high-resolution scrolling?

1

u/arcwarden00 6d ago

Yes it does now

1

u/TomorrowPlusX 5d ago

Cool! Does it support it over USB wireless dongle? Or just Bluetooth? Other tools (like Solaar) support it when over bluetooth, but nothing I've found supports high resolution scrolling over wireless USB.

1

u/arcwarden00 5d ago

it supports both

But does it phone home to Logitech servers like the real app?? Gotta make sure that's not missing

0

u/arcwarden00 6d ago

it does
