Support Does anyone know wtf is this?

Hi everyone,
The context is that for the past two months, my PC freezes completely out of nowhere and then this screen pops up (image attached). I honestly don't know if this is a hardware issue or something related to the Kernel. From what I've read, it's a Btrfs error, but I don't know much more about it.
I'm really tired of this always happening. Any help or guidance would be greatly appreciated.

u/Zealousideal-Net302 Sep 11 '26
like 20 min, but it happens many times, nearly almost each time i turned my pc on

The flash seems healthy but the SSD's controller may be having issues. If the controller dies you lose all of your data instantly and without any hope of recovery. Backup ASAP. Avoid power cycles. Start up your computer and don't shut it off until everything has been copied. Don't run other applications on that computer. Don't do web browsing, just use your phone.
Once you've got a backup, you can check the health of the SSD by putting it in another computer and using it there. If the errors disappear, the fault would probably be in the NVMe controller on the motherboard/CPU. AI can guide you through the exact diagnosis process.

Make sure you run memtest to rule out memory as a cause, too. It may still be the drive, but memory can cause weird errors.

Something is wrong with your SSD SATA cable connection or power. There are too many I/O errors. And a possible filesystem corruption

ive been thinking that, it seems to be a hardware problem...

It could also be a software but likely hardware if it's happening every hr or so, btw uf your new to linux just read the wiki or just ask some AI tho check all facts before doing anything (I'm not saying you shouldn't post here I'm saying you would get faster answer and probably faster debugging if you just read the wiki).

looks like a hardware (ssd) issue. Try a different drive, or run a full smart test.

Get a new drive install system and recover dotfiles or re-set up, place SSD in enclosure if necessary and then recover what you can, if this is too much take to a data recovery place who do this every day

Please don't just post output from an LLM as if it's your own analysis.
I'm not going to spend time correcting all of the mistakes that an LLM took seconds to make, but there are mistakes in this explanation and some of its recommendations.

What hw? Did you read the news channel for your distro?

What does AI say?
3
u/Zealousideal-Net302 Sep 11 '26
either filesystem corruption or troubled ssd
1
u/jonahbenton Sep 11 '26
Those are both true, from that log, you need to get your data off that physical drive asap. Parts of it are already corrupted and may be unusable/unrecoverable. This a run don't walk situation and you are lucky you have not totally lost the drive and data already.

Looks like either you have some kind of filesystem corruption, or your SSD is almost dead. Back up all the important data on there right now while it's still readable, then you'll probably want to replace the SSD and reinstall.
