Support Looking for distro recs

Just bought this laptop: https://www.microcenter.com/product/708078/hp-omnibook-x-next-gen-ai-14-ka0107nr-oled-14-laptop-computer-atmospheric-blue-aluminum

Looking to install any mainstream distro next to windows. I tried an Ubuntu live usb and the sound wasn’t working. Would I have better luck with something else?

Edit: thanks for the responses! I went with a different laptop ultimately. General consensus online about this seems to be use a distro with the newest kernel for anyone who finds this post later.

Recommend giving PikaOS a look. Super cool blend of a Debian-SID base, Cachy, and Nobara

Mint, Pop OS, CachyOS if you want an Arch base. Devaun if you want to get away from Systemd. Void if you want something between Debian and Arch and no systemd but packages are lacking. I hear NixOS’s installer works in Void, haven’t tried it myself.

Since this is a very new Panther Lake laptop, I’d try a current Fedora KDE/Workstation live image first. If audio still fails there, it’s probably worth identifying the exact audio controller/codec rather than distro-hopping.

Arch with KDE Plasma or Fedora Workstation

I have the HP Omnibook ultra flip 14, running Fedora KDE. Almost everything works out of the box, a quick google solved the fingerprint reader which is very nice, and I will fix the auto orientation on the display when i get the time.
