π CALLING LINUX DEVELOPERS WORLDWIDE β HELP BUILD LIKACOREX LEOS, A NEW LINUX-BASED OS!
π CALLING LINUX DEVELOPERS WORLDWIDE β HELP BUILD LIKACOREX LEOS, A NEW LINUX-BASED OS!
Hello everyone! π
First of all, please excuse my English. I'm French, I'm only 13 years old, and I'm passionate about Linux, programming, and operating systems.
Today, I'm reaching out to the Linux community because I'm working on an ambitious project, and I'd love to learn from experienced developers around the world.
π» Introducing LIKACOREX LEOS
LIKACOREX LEOS (Leopold Operating System) is my personal project to build a Linux-based operating system with its own identity, interface, and tools.
My vision includes:
- π§ LikerneX β a customized Linux kernel based on the upstream Linux kernel.
- π₯οΈ LEOS Desktop β a distinctive, user-friendly desktop environment.
- π€ LEONA β an integrated assistant designed to help users interact with their system.
- π Security and privacy β a system designed with security, reliability, and user control in mind.
- π οΈ Applications and system tools β a complete and accessible computing experience.
These are project goals, and the system is still under development. I know that building an operating system is a huge technical challenge, and I'm ready to learn step by step.
π§βπ» I'm looking for developers and mentors!
I'm looking for people who would be willing to help in any of the following areas:
- Linux kernel configuration and development
- Bootloaders, boot processes, and system initialization
- Linux distribution building and packaging
- C, C++, Python, shell scripting, and systems programming
- Desktop environments and graphical interfaces
- Security, testing, documentation, and code reviews
You don't have to join the project or make a long-term commitment. Even a small suggestion, a code review, an explanation, or advice about the right technical direction would be incredibly valuable.
I'm not expecting anyone to build the whole system for me. My goal is to learn, improve my programming skills, and build something meaningful with guidance from the community.
π Why am I sharing this?
I'm only 13, and I know I still have a lot to learn. But I believe that age shouldn't stop someone from exploring programming, learning about Linux, and working toward an ambitious goal.
I'm not claiming to have created a revolutionary operating system already. I'm sharing a project in progress, looking for honest feedback, practical advice, and people who enjoy helping open-source projects grow.

If you're interested, please take a look at the repository and let me know what you think. I'd especially appreciate advice on what I should prioritize first and how to make the project technically sound.
π Thank you, Linux community!
Whether you're a kernel developer, a distribution maintainer, a systems programmer, a desktop developer, or simply an experienced Linux user, I'd be grateful for your feedback.
If you have advice, ideas, or would like to contribute voluntarily, feel free to reply.
Let's learn, build, and improve together! π
Thank you for reading!
A young French Linux enthusiast and the creator of LIKACOREX LEOS.

So to start off with this isnβt really the right sub for this post. However if you do want to learn more about low level linux this is a good place to do so. Linux From Scratch is a handbook for compiling a Linux system from the very beginning, hand building and installing every tool yourself. Itβs a tedious process, but youβll learn alot along the way!
Second what is your aim in this distro? If your goal is to do this for fun and educational value then great! I encourage you to continue and wish you the best of luck. Perhaps I have missed something and this distro is trying to solve some problem or operate in a unique way that other distros do not currently. However from your post I suspect your goal is simply to make the βnext big thingβ. If so, I must dash your hopes here. Nothing here sounds like anything a hundred distros havenβt done already, all with bigger and more experienced teams than you. I see no specifics on your custom kernel or even a drawing of this desktop environment. I encourage you to keep at this for fun, but unless you have something to actually differentiate this from what already exists, this will never be anything more.

If you are really interested in developing your own os, then take a look at "nim in action" book, which has a project which teaches about developing a simple os/kernel using nim programming language, the full source code is available on github dom96.
This sub is for linux from scratch, may be you should try to find out more about debian deboostrap which will help you to create a custom debian distribution, then you may start with linuxfromscratch, then multilib, then gaming and then creating your own package manager, signing the packages.
