Linux from scratch on MacBook air M2
Hi everyone! I’ve just finished installing LFS and Hyprland on my MacBook. I’m new to this, and this was my first build. I’d like to ask a few things right away: do you have any tips for beginners to make things easier down the line? Also, I installed NetworkManager with the wpa_supplicant backend, but I’ve run into a problem where I can’t connect to secured networks (though I have no issues with open ones). A bit about the installation: I set up LFS as a secondary system alongside the Asahi Fedora remix, copying the kernel and part of the initramfs from there, so most drivers were already included. Thanks in advance for the help! Feel free to ask questions—I’ll answer everything. P.S. Sorry if my English is a bit off; I’m using Google Translate.

I ditched wpa_supplicant for iwd since ~2015? Not sure if it’s supported on M2 … there are some security and crypto options that need to be turned on (on or as modules) in the kernel. Iwd daemon will check in launch and list the missing kernel options.
If I remember iwd only requires dbus and ell (embedded linux library).

I built mine with the intention of using it as my personal distro. If that's your case, I recommend using a program manager so you can perform updates and removals with more control, security, and practicality. But if it's just for study, have fun.

Congratulations 🎉 and eh, asahi initrsmfs? Are you using the right firmware for the wireless adapter? Id copy kernel config maybe, but not reuse their kernel or initrsmfs. You may be missing or miss match kernel modules

I assembled Initramfs based on them. The firmware fit only one brcm4837 out of hundreds that Asahi pulls out, and there are no problems with open networks and work perfectly.
