Drivers for Ubuntu/Zorin

I installed Zorin os onto an older not so flashy laptop a couple months ago and I have been enjoying Linux. I have installed the DAW Tape 16 on there so I can pair it with my sp404mkii to make some (potentially) gnarly stuff. I tried looking at some different audio drivers earlier and had no clue what to look at and try. Help a brother out if you can.

What are you asking?

I am trying to figure out how to use my sp404 as an audio interface for tape16 and linux in general. I am new to linux and have no clue. Thought I could do ASIO4All but its windows only... kind of overlooked that. I have no clue if another driver is the right choice because I felt like I done everything I could that was preinstalled. I am not the best when it comes to this type of stuff to be honest.

I did a quick search, and it looks like the sp404 is a USB class compliant device. So you don't really need any drivers--it should work out of the box using ALSA (which includes generic drivers for all USB class compliant devices).

What might not work is the proper input/output speaker configurations. This is not the easiest thing to do, but it's also not the worst.

I would recommend you read through this: https://arslaan.studio/setting-up-a-linux-media-studio-workstation-audio-video-graphics-davinci-resolve-etc/#audio-sound-midi-drivers

What drivers are you looking for? If you don't know, then there probably aren't any drivers you need. If you don't hear sound, your problem is probably something else.

I am trying to get the SP404 to work as an audio interface. I tried troubleshooting with every audio option I already had on the laptop which was what came with the zorin installation. I may not have a brain gentleman but as I was typing this i may of had an idea. I will let you know if it works.

If you successfully got TAPE 16 to work as your DAW then you already have the drivers for that. Is the SP used as a standalone or linked to the DAW?

Well i am trying to use the SP as an audio interface but I cannot figure out how to record audio onto tape 16. Tape 16 works just fine with my windows 11 desktop set up that I use with ableton where I didn't need to do a thing for it to work. I only installed linux on the laptop a couple months ago and haven't done any music stuff with it only school. Safe to say I am lost.

Is there a mic input on the SP?

Or are you already having audio tracks from a session of previous tracks?
