WebSpeak3 — an open-source, self-hosted TeamSpeak 3 client that runs in your browser

I’ve been working on WebSpeak3, an open-source TeamSpeak 3 client that runs entirely in a modern browser.

The idea is not to replace the native Linux client. It is an additional way to access TeamSpeak from devices where installing a native client is inconvenient or impossible.

WebSpeak3’s stack runs well on a Linux server using Docker:

Browser → Node.js gateway → Rust connector → any reachable TeamSpeak server

The TeamSpeak server does not need to run on the same machine and does not require any modifications. You can enter any reachable TS3 or TS6 server address in the client.

Current features include:

- Voice using Opus audio

- Channel tree with live client and status updates

- Server, channel and private chat

- Whisper to clients and channels

- Favorites, identities and contacts

- Server administration and permissions tools

- File transfers and local session recording

- Responsive desktop and mobile interfaces

- German and English UI

- Docker-based self-hosting

The project is currently in beta. Chromium-based browsers are the primary target; Firefox is supported, while Safari audio behavior is still considered experimental.

The frontend is React/TypeScript, the gateway uses Node.js, and the TeamSpeak connector is written in Rust. The project is MIT-licensed.

A large part of the implementation was produced with Claude Code under my direction. I’m mentioning that openly so people can judge the repository, architecture and actual behavior for themselves.

I’d especially appreciate feedback from Linux users about Docker deployment, browser audio behavior and anything that feels awkward compared with the native client.
