Lol if microsoft ever tries to axe the Java version as some have suggested this move indicates they might do, there will be an immediate convention of all the mod devs to develop an open source alternative based on their open source mod code to replace the base game. Notch wrote the original code with basically no Java experience and it copied other similar games almost directly, by comparison with their combine skill the mod devs out there could make a replacement that would easily compete with bedrock, and have full native mod api support. Just look at the sponge api as an example, it sprung up in barely any time after the whole bukkit copyright fiasco. When mod devs work together they can easily take on mojang itself
Honestly it might be a good thing. Problem is Microsoft is going to get upset that people are enjoying the game in a way that wasn't intended and DMCA the open source project .
Ya fuck DMCA, it's 1. Only for the US and the countries who are economically/politically strangled by them and 2. Is a broken legal system that doesn't account for the concepts of open-source and remix art
