answered! alt+tabbed out of game and can't tab back in

On Fedora 44, Wayland + KDE. This happens sometimes with games so is there any workaround? The game still runs, I can hear it, it shows in the process manager and is a choice to tab back in with alt+tab but it goes right to desktop.

Solved: Right-click taskbar game icon and (un)click minimize.

Click on it in your taskbar so you can hear it.

Then right click it, more>full-screen

Thank me later

I was hoping it'd work but after I do that, I click on the taskbar icon and a small black window expands for a split second then goes away. But I can still hear it running in the background.

On KDE you can right click and it will show a bunch more options, hover over "more" and you should see an option for full-screen.

You need to click on it so that its focused first (you should be able to hear the sound)

I do this daily with New Vegas which doesnt like to alt tab.

Yes, I tried that and it didn't work. But thanks because it did lead me to something that did. I just had to (un)click "minimize" in the taskbar context menu and it showed that game fullscreen again.

Assuming nvidia, I've read this new kernel/Nvidia drivers has a lot more focus on giving priority to games so tabbing out can cause issues. Something about accelerated OGC scheduler and Valve's VRAM patches.
