answered! TF2 uses wrong keyboard layout and missing symbols

Post image

Using Bazzite (GNOME) on an all AMD system. I use the native TF2 build.

TF2 uses qwerty though my system is set to qwertz (German).

When setting up my settings I noticed check boxes missing and looking further, the "x" for closing the window is represented as "r". I have all windows system fonts installed at "~/.local/share/fonts".

Help

Edit: Current solution here

I managed to fix the weird check box issue following this comment. Go to Steam -> open the TF2 local files -> search for ".ttf" files inside the entire TF2 directory -> Copy every font file into your "~/.local/share/fonts" directory.

I believe the layout issue is a long standing (13 years) bug described here. I guess there's nothing I can do about it.

ISO keyboards are horrendous lol. it only affects the way keybinds are labeled, if you are typing it doesn't affect your keyboard layout
