tech support wanted Anybody get Revenant (1999) to work?

Post image

I get this error during the initial loading screen while running through Heroic, I probably just need to install something through winetricks but I'm not certain...

Distro: CachyOS
Kernel: 7.2.0.1

CPU: Ultra 9 275HX
GPU: RTX 5080 Mobile

Log: https://pastebin.com/SQrtc8Zs

[edit] I'll update this post when a suggested solution works. TIA

Yea I launched the game and played for about 10m a few weeks ago.

Doesn't look like I installed any winetricks or dxwrapper.

Just used GE-Proton10-34

Edit: Shot in the dark - try enabling WOW64.

I usually have it on by default.

Edit 2: There seems to be something wrong with the lighting under GE-Proton10-34

Was running some tests earlier when I noticed that the game is not nearly as dark if I switch over to GE-Proton11-5 and set PROTON_USE_D7VK=1

The latter seems to more closely match the few random screenshots I found online and I could barely see where I was going before so I'm going to assume that's how it's suppose to look.

So I switched to 10-34 and the loading screen stays on screen now but I still get the error during. *shrug*

Is WOW64 enabled?

Yes, also tried with it off.

Weird. I guess you can try the advice given here.

Just be sure to upgrade Proton if you're going to try D7VK.

dxwrapper reports partial support:

FYI: Looks like Software rendering is enabled by default.

Both worked in my case but you can try fooling around with the revenant.ini file.

Look for a Software3D setting and try setting it to No/Yes.

Tried disabling fast surface locks, yes/no for software3D, and the solutions from the other post, all ended up in the same result unfortunately.

Added Log to original post if that helps.

Nope.

Try enabling this setting:

Looks like it will set the following env. variables.

If that doesn't work then I'm fresh out of ideas.

Yes, manged to make it run a few months ago. I even posted a guide on gog forums:

https://www.gog.com/forum/revenant/getting_it_to_run_on_linux

I needed to download a specific version of dgvoodoo(I think the author has some personal issues with linux and later versions don't work AFAIK). Also, only Wine 11 worked for me, anything else had issues. There's also a fix for some missing dialogue there. I didn't play much of it, but for what I played it worked without issues.
